You’re Showing Up on Google — So Why Isn’t Anyone Clicking?

One of the most common things I see when reviewing websites is this:

Plenty of impressions.
Almost no clicks.

And it’s confusing, because on paper, things look like they’re working.

But here’s the reality:

Showing up in search and getting chosen are two completely different things.

The Hidden Problem in Your Data
You already have pages that are performing well in terms of visibility.

For example:

  • blog posts ranking on page 1 or 2
  • strong impression volume on key topics

But the click-through rate is low.

That gap is where the opportunity is.

Why People Aren’t Clicking
This usually comes down to a few things:

1. Your headline doesn’t feel specific enough
If it sounds like every other article, people skip it.

2. It’s not clear what they’ll get
Users want to know quickly:

  • Is this practical?
  • Is this relevant to me?

3. You’re competing against better positioning, not better content
Someone else might be saying the same thing — just more clearly.

A Simple Way to Fix It
You don’t need to rewrite your entire website.

Start with your titles.

Instead of:

Try:
Why You’re Ranking on Google but Still Not Getting Clients

Same topic. Different outcome.

Focus on the Outcome, Not the Concept
Most people don’t search for technical terms.

They’re really trying to solve:

  • Why am I not getting leads?
  • Why isn’t my website working?

When your content reflects that, your clicks go up.

Where You Should Focus First
Your best opportunities are:

  • pages already ranking with impressions
  • topics where you’re on page 1–2
  • content that feels slightly too general

Those are the easiest wins.

The Bottom Line
You don’t have a traffic problem.

You have a conversion problem at the search level.

And that’s actually a much easier fix.
